Physics the 'easiest' oh...
Well, you've reminded me about an interesting experience - it happened during my working time after SPM...
I was helping out at my cousin's engineering company. That was also the time when we were worrying about our SPM results and future undertakings. I was wondering if I should take the Physics path, and suddenly an idea appeared in my mind - Physics leads to Engineering path, why not I go and ask the opinions of the engineers in the company?
So I went and ask a senior engineer, 'why are you choosing Civil Engineering as your major subject?' He replied, 'Most of my relatives had chosen this subject, so i felt that it's more secure... I don't like challenges, and I don't like to try other subjects which are not so "safe"...'
Then I asked a junior engineer the same question. He replied, 'Because at my hometown Indonesia, only few people have the ability to study Civil Engineering... Everyone said it's damn tough, but I just want to challenge it! I want to prove to myself that I can do it!'
Interesting, right? Different people from different background have different opinion. One said it's secure, another said it's challenging - they are actually taking the same subject!
Finally I went and asked the boss - my cousin, the same question. He gave me another answer, 'My family had been doing this business since long time ago, and I felt that I am destined to take this path...' I asked, 'Don't you have other interests?'
He said, 'Of course! I like to draw comics, and I like racing cars. But all these things won't be able to take care of our daily life, if we are not professionals... We still have to work, to earn money. Most of the time your interest won't meet your needs... If they meet, it will be great, but mostly they won't.'
So, what do you think?
It just depends on the way you think!
Good luck in everything.
